PhIMA, or the Philadelphia Interactive Marketing Association, is a regional nonprofit organization established to encourage open communication and enhance a sense of community within interactive marketing professionals in the Greater Philadelphia area. Advertising through social media has been increasing in popularity and seems to have significantly spiked in the past six months.  Perhaps the best evidence of this growing trend is how Obama’s team leveraged such sites as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and Digg in last year’s presidential campaign.
